Integrating modern solar technology into an old farmhouse while preserving its historic character posed a unique challenge. The homeowner sought to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions without compromising the aesthetics of the traditional slate roof.
To ensure a seamless and visually appealing integration, we embedded 20 high-performance solar panels directly into the slate roof. This approach maintained the farmhouse’s classic appearance while maximizing solar efficiency.
The 12kWp system now generates approximately 12,000kWh per year, significantly reducing the property’s reliance on grid electricity. With annual CO2 emissions reduced by 6,253kg, this installation represents a major step toward a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
The financial and environmental wins:
12kWp in-roof solar system blending into the farmhouse’s slate roofing
12,000kWh of clean energy generated annually
6,253kg of CO2 emissions offset each year
Return on investment achieved in just six years!
By merging tradition with innovation, this project demonstrates how heritage properties can embrace renewable energy while maintaining their timeless appeal. The homeowner now enjoys both substantial energy savings and a reduced environmental footprint, ensuring long-term sustainability without sacrificing style.
